The Merangola, or Intense Orange, which is unique for its winged leaf stalk and thorns, is an antique citrus coming from the Far East. It was imported in the Mediterranean Sea in the X century by the Arabian. During the Renaissance it appears in many paintings made by Umbrian artists, which testify its cultivation in Umbria, still present in some areas of the province of Terni. Its use in the local agricultural tradition has distant roots and it is frequently linked to festivities and celebrations.

In November, the juice of Merangola was squeezed on the “bruschetta” (a toasted slice of bread) as complement for the degustation of fresh oil. At Christmastime the fruit was yearned for children, but it was used to play tricks at Carnival time.

If you have a color scheme in the home that is neutral and you want to add that extra touch of energy, the advice is to choose more lively colours as a combination... in this case a coloured ‘pomo’ would be just the right choice.

Pomi d’Umbria ambiance fragrances are refined room fragrances that stimulate your olfactory memory, offering you the pleasure of an enveloping sensory experience in your own home. 10% of the perfumes used are made of the finest essential plant oils expertly dosed to create fragrances that stimulate concentration and relaxation.

They come in attractive packaging, always accompanied by mouillettes (scented cards that can be customized as required) reminiscent, in shape and lettering, of old-style travel tickets.

This is a quality sensory experience enhanced by designer stoppers handcrafted by expert artisans using ancient techniques.

The designer tops used for the Maiolica Collection recall the shape of symbolic types of ancient fruit from the Umbria region: the Monteleone Pear, the Conventina Apple and the Merangola (Sour Orange). They are made of handcrafted maiolica by expert potters from Umbria using casting methods, ancient craft techniques widely employed in the local ceramic tradition, and then individually hand-finished, completed and coloured with a glassy coating.
Also applied by hand is the simple, elegantly printed logo, demonstrating the authenticity of the product.

Notes of fruity woods, berries and tobacco are released by capillary action thanks to natural reed sticks soaked in the fragrance, that fill the room with a heady perfume as well as bringing a pleasant feeling of cleanliness.

Once opened, it is advisable to turn the reed sticks upside down after the first day, and then we recommend turning them over every 2/3 weeks. The fragrance lasts about 5 months, but this varies depending on the room in which the diffuser is placed; it can scent approx. 20 square meters of room space and the intensity can be adjusted by adding or removing reed sticks.

The Pomi d'Umbria Maiolica Collection is the ideal gift for both men and women, as well as something to impress guests with on special occasions like weddings, where they can be used as cadeau de mariage, perfect mementoes of a perfect day.

The apple has been a symbol of prosperity and fortune since ancient times, and is the perfect way to convey best wishes when taking part in a special event. Once the perfume has been used up, its specially designed container can be used in other ways, for example, it can become an original pen holder.
